SEASTARS Presented at the 2nd Chios International Shipping Summit

The SEASTARS project was presented during the 2nd Chios International Shipping Summit, held on 20–21 June 2025 and organised by the Department of Shipping, Trade & Transport of the University of the Aegean.

During the event, SEASTARS Project Coordinator Prof. Evangelos Boulougouris, representing the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, delivered a presentation exploring the evolution of ship design from the early 1960s to the latest developments in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

The presentation highlighted the growing role of digitalisation and integrated engineering methodologies in shaping the future of maritime design and operations, while also showcasing the objectives and innovative approach of the SEASTARS project.

By incorporating MBSE principles into both retrofit and newbuild vessel applications, SEASTARS aims to support more flexible, efficient, and scalable pathways toward maritime decarbonization and sustainable shipping.

The summit provided an important platform for knowledge exchange among industry stakeholders, academic institutions, and maritime professionals, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in driving innovation within the shipping sector.
