SEASTARS at Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 (Day 3)

The SEASTARS project successfully concluded its participation in the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026, held in Budapest, Hungary, where it joined the WaterborneTP booth and contributed to discussions on the future of sustainable waterborne transport.

Throughout the event, SEASTARS engaged with researchers, policymakers, industry representatives, and fellow Horizon Europe projects, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration around the challenges and opportunities of maritime decarbonisation. The project was represented alongside its sister and collaborating projects, including FLEETfor55, TwinShip, SAFeCRAFT and EcoShipYard.

Together with HEMEXPO and the University of Strathclyde, the SEASTARS consortium showcased its work on innovative approaches to vessel design and sustainable shipping, highlighting:

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)-driven vessel design methodologies
  • Retrofit and newbuild decarbonisation pathways
  • Solutions for inland, short-sea and deep-sea shipping applications
  • Approaches supporting digitalisation, energy efficiency and emissions reduction across the maritime sector
TRA 2026 provided a valuable platform for exchanging perspectives on how digitalisation, modular vessel design and collaborative innovation can accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable maritime industry.

The SEASTARS consortium would like to thank all visitors, stakeholders and project representatives who contributed to the discussions and shared their insights during the event.

The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Innovation Actions programme under Grant Agreement No. 101192901.
