SEASTARS at Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 (day 1 & 2)

The SEASTARS project is actively participating in the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 in Budapest, where the first days of the event have already generated valuable discussions, new connections, and strong interest in sustainable waterborne transport solutions.

As part of the WaterborneTP booth, SEASTARS is joining 12 European research and innovation projects that are demonstrating how digitalisation, collaboration, and technological innovation can support the transition towards zero-emission shipping.

During the event, the project is presenting its work on:

  • Modular retrofit and newbuild decarbonisation pathways
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)-driven vessel design methodologies
  • Eight innovative vessel concepts, including four retrofit and four newbuild designs
  • Solutions addressing the needs of inland, short-sea, and deep-sea shipping
  • Practical approaches for improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and enabling the adoption of alternative fuels
  • TRA 2026 continues to provide an excellent platform for engaging with industry stakeholders, researchers, policymakers, and maritime innovators. The exchanges taking place throughout the event highlight the growing momentum behind collaborative efforts to accelerate the decarbonisation of the European maritime sector.

SEASTARS looks forward to continuing these discussions throughout the remainder of the event and sharing further insights from Budapest in the coming days.
